How to Install WordPress in 5 Minutes via Softaculous

Installing WordPress via Softaculous
Softaculous is a one-click app installer built into cPanel. It installs WordPress automatically — no manual file uploads or database setup required.
Step 1 — Open Softaculous
- Log into cPanel
- Scroll to Software → Softaculous Apps Installer
- Click the WordPress icon (or search for it)
Step 2 — Click Install Now
On the WordPress page, click the blue Install Now button.
Step 3 — Configure Your Installation
Fill in the installation form:

| Choose Protocol | https:// (if SSL is active) |
| Choose Domain | Select your domain |
| In Directory | Leave blank to install at root |
| Site Name | Your business name |
| Site Description | A short tagline |
| Admin Username | Choose something other than "admin" |
| Admin Password | Use a strong password |
| Admin Email | Your email address |
Step 4 — Click Install
Scroll down and click Install. Softaculous will:
- Create a MySQL database
- Upload all WordPress files
- Configure
wp-config.php - Set up the admin account
This takes about 60 seconds.
Step 5 — Log Into WordPress
Visit https://yourdomain.co.ke/wp-admin and log in with the admin credentials you set.
First Things to Do After Installation
- Install a theme — Appearance → Themes → Add New
- Install essential plugins — Yoast SEO, WooCommerce (if selling), Wordfence Security
- Delete default content — Remove "Hello World" post and "Sample Page"
- Set permalinks — Settings → Permalinks → Post name
